Indentifying and Protecting Wildlife Corridors

Bees: another connection

Here:

The Melissa Garden.

is a link to yet another wonderful and inspiring honey and wild bee project. Beauty is a great motivator, to have some for yourself, as well as to encourage those protective and nurturing instincts. The Melissa garden is an idea whose time has come!

I would just add, that to plant trees and flowers here in NM, it is sometimes required to first remove some invasive trees and bushes first. These water-hungry plants also prevent the growth of the ones you want to plant by literally taking the soil/nutrients away and packing every available space with, you guessed it, their roots. Invasives include non-native Siberian Elms as well as native bushes like one-seed Juniper. This actually puts removal of invasives on the top of our priority list when it comes to land restoration, improvement of native species, and re-vegetation efforts.
